The Pantry is part of a growing network across North and South Liverpool. Christ Church South Pantry is jointly co-ordinated and has a fab team of volunteers. We are supported and guided by South Liverpool Foodbank, Torus Foundation, Together Liverpool and Feeding Liverpool.
This initiative aims to create a sustainable and long-term solution to food poverty. Membership is open to everyone who lives in Christ Church parish (see map), bounded by Aigburth Road, Ullet Road Croxteth/Aigburth Drive, and for families with a child at St Michael in the Hamlet school.
For a small weekly fee, members can choose at least ten items of food, along with additional opportunities of volunteering and training. The pantry aims to give people a ‘hand up’, it reduces food waste and brings a real sense of community.
Members in other areas have reported improved financial positions, improved health and well-being and reduced isolation. The 2018 Social Impact Report also found that for every £1 invested Pantries have generated a £6 return in social value. Read the report here.
