Celebrating Life's Events

Christ Church is available for all your important life events: baptisms, weddings and funerals.

Christening 5

Baptism

Christ Church welcomes all families who live in the parish to have their children baptised. In baptism, we thank God for his gift of life and publicly acknowledge his love. It’s the start of an amazing journey of faith for your child and a special day for all your friends and family.

We hold baptism services regularly. We cannot promise a particular date, but will discuss possible dates with you. .

Choosing godparents does not have to be difficult. Choose someone that will be a good example to your child, who will encourage them in their spiritual life and help them start their journey to know God. For more information about getting your child baptised at Christ Church please contact Annette James, Lay Minister. Alternatively, any of the leaders would be delighted to chat to you after the Sunday morning service.

The Church of England also believes in baptism at any age. It is never too late to turn to God. This is again, thanking God for his gift of life and publicly acknowledge his love and

presence in your life. You can only be baptised once, but there are other ways of renewing your Christian commitment publicly as an adult. Discover all you need to know about choosing, planning and going to a Church of England christening here.

Wedding

Weddings

Christ Church, and it’s sister church St Michael’s is an inspiring, beautiful and historic building with plenty of wow factor for your wedding day.

It has never been easier to get married in church and we would love to help give the promises you make to each other the depth of meaning, personal attention and sacred setting you deserve – whether or not you are a churchgoer already.

In order to marry in any Church of England church a couple first has to show one of seven possible qualifying connections. The most common are that you live in the parish, or that you already attend the church. However, there are several other connections which may enable you to marry here. You can look through the list of connections and check which parish you live in here.

Discover all you need to know about Church of England weddings and blessings at the Your Church Wedding website. A ceremony planner and step-by-step guide to the wedding service can be found here.

For more information about getting married at Christ Church please contact Annette James, Lay Minister. Alternatively, any of the leaders would be delighted to chat to you after the Sunday morning service.
