We are pleased to announce that Christ Church has received support from the Heritage Lottery Fund for the first phase of restoration work to our beautiful Grade II listed building.
This funding will allow us to do essential repair work to various elements of the building, which was originally designed by architects Culshaw and Sumners in the nineteenth century. Thanks to the HLF we will be able to treat dry rot that is affecting the roof timbers, make the historic structure watertight and more.
As part of this project we will be creating a guide book about the church and its history, and we will be running an exciting competition to design a replacement for a broken gargoyle on the exterior of the church building! So if you’re feeling creative – watch this space!
