Christ Church was consecrated in 1871. It is a grade ll listed building is situated in Linnet Lane, just around the corner from Bellerive FCJ. The Parochial Church Council (PCC) have been granted funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to repair and renovate our lower roofs. Whilst preparing for this work we noticed that one of our gargoyles is missing. Alongside other activities, we are planning a local competition over the Summer to design a new gargoyle, we will be producing materials relating to this over the next few weeks.
This is a unique opportunity to make a contribution to your heritage
Come and view Christ Church gargoyles at any time…
The aim is that we will receive entries online from children, young people and adults who either live or have a connection with the parish e.g. go to school or work here. We will post photographs of the existing gargoyles on social media and on our web page www.christchurchtoxtethpark.org.
A panel of judges (yet to be convened) will consider all entries and identify winners in each category and one overall winner – In September we will exhibit all entries on the Heritage open days, along with the shortlist and the overall winner.
The winning design will be carved into stone and added to the building (on the side closest to Lark Lane).
We will display all shortlisted designs on our website alongside – with your permission, your details and a photograph of you.
